Issy-Les-Moulineaux (France), April 10, 2018. Thierry Mallet, Chairman and CEO of Transdev, presented strongly improved 2017 annual results as well as a significant reduction of its debt, which both confirm the group’s positioning and its capacity for further development.

The Group’s PACE(1) vision is validated by the commercial wins, the success of its new mobility offers around the world (Transport on Demand, electric mobility, mobility platforms) and the signature of strategic agreements in the field of autonomous vehicles.

Transdev reasserts its strategy as an integrator of daily mobilities and as the first-choice partner of public mobility authorities.

A significant improvement in Group performance

With revenue stable at 6.6 billion euros, Transdev reports net income up 15% at 76 million euros, an increase of 10 million euros versus 2016. Group net financial debt, down 65 million euros stood at 528 million euros in 2017, or a net debt / EBITDA ratio of 1.3. Equity rose to reach 1 047 million euros.

2017 has been marked by an improvement in the Group’s global performance in all of its activities, while performance at best cost is a priority for all our customers – local authorities and passengers alike. For 2018, I expect us to continue along this track in deploying the best solutions developed around the world.

Strategic commercial wins

Transdev has won important contracts in France and made targeted acquisitions which have reinforced the complementarity of its offers for local authorities.

In Le Havre (Normandy, France), where the Group now been partnering with the city for 100 years, Transdev has renewed a historical contract for 6 years and 340 million euros.

This illustrates Transdev’s capacity to efficiently meet its customer expectations over time.

Transdev has been chosen by the urban community of Niort (France) to redefine its transport offering (bus, shuttles, Transport on Demand, long-term bicycle rental and ridesharing). This 6-year 66 million euros contract demonstrates Transdev’s ability to offer tailored and complementary solutions to local authorities.

In the Amsterdam region, Transdev has launched the Amstelland – Meerlanden contract, which represents 1.9 billion euros revenue over 15 years. It consists of a fleet of 300 buses, of which 100 zero emissions, with 90% of the fleet to be 100% electric after 2021. With this contract, Transdev is de-facto the largest electric bus operator in Europe.

The Valley Metro contract win in Phoenix (Arizona, USA) for 100 million US dollars over 5 years is strategic as it reinforces the Group’s experience in the field of paratransit.

Still in the USA, Transdev has won a 12-year 125 million US dollar contract with Hudson Link (New York), for a regional Bus Rapid Transit program, serving connections to Manhattan, with start of operations scheduled for the end of October 2018.

Finally, in New Zealand, Transdev inked the renewal of a contract for the Auckland regional train network, with 2018 revenue of 77 million New-Zealand dollars. This award confirms the quality of Transdev operations on these lines, with ridership up seven-fold over 14 years, or 50% per year.

Targeted acquisitions

Targeted acquisitions also represent a growth area for Transdev. In 2017, several acquisitions have been particularly strategic and enabled Transdev to enrich its offering, to be positioned for future tenders and to conquer new markets.

After the acquisition of Urbis Park at the end of 2016, Transdev has won – through its Moovia entity – the contracts for the control of paid street parking in Paris (six districts), in Bordeaux and in Nice.

In Sweden, to reinforce its positions in the rail field, Transdev acquired a rail company with annual revenue of 16 million euros. Transdev also acquired a ferry company in the Stockholm region in order to respond to new tenders planned for this year.

Finally, Transdev is gaining ground in the field of airport services with the acquisition of Flybus, which manages passenger transfers between planes and airport terminals at the Paris Charles-de-Gaulle airport. The Group operates not only in France but also in the USA and in the Netherlands.

PACE becomes a daily reality

Transdev is continuing the development and the deployment of sustainable solutions in line with its PACE vision of mobility: Personalized, Autonomous, Connected, Electric.

Personalized mobility is illustrated by the development of intelligent solutions for Transport on Demand, designed to offer to passengers the solutions closest to their needs, promote modal shift and improve mobility for all. These new offers have been deployed everywhere in the Group: in France, since January 2018 in the Greater Paris area, after Beauvais, Auxerre, Vitrolles, Mulhouse, Grenoble and Avignon, in the Netherlands, in the USA and in Australia (Sydney).

In terms of connected mobility, which allows passengers to design each step of their trip using all available means of transport, including ticketing, Transdev has launched in France its “Compte Mobilité” (mobility account) in Mulhouse, following the deployment of Moovizy in Saint-Étienne and that of Tranzer in the Netherlands. Last year, Transdev also launched its mobility platform in the city of Fourmies in Northern France, offering mobility solutions, in particular to ease access to employment in sparsely populated areas.

Transdev plays a pioneering role in making energy transition a reality in its field with the deployment of electric mobility solutions. Transdev now operates close to 400 electric buses and minibuses in operation at 27 sites in 7 countries. Transdev is the largest operator of electric buses in Europe, with its contracts in Amsterdam and Eindhoven, two of the cleanest bus networks in the world.

Finally, Transdev is actively working on the deployment of solutions enabling the advent of autonomous vehicles within the frame of transport network operations. It is the objective of the agreements and projects launched by the Group and its industrial partners (Renault Nissan Alliance & Lohr) and with local communities (creation of the Rouen Normandy Autonomous Lab in France).

Our financial results, our commercial successes and the clear advances recorded in 2017 on the deployment of our PACE vision all clearly validate our strategy of positioning ourselves as an integrator of daily mobilities, serving our clients and millions of passengers who rely on us every day around the world.
