Veolia Transdev awarded 140 million euro contract in Australia

Veolia Transdev, in a joint venture with Buslink Australia, has signed a contract with JKC, a global engineering and construction firm, to provide daily transportation for 4,500 people working on the liquefied natural gas production site near Darwin, Australia. The four-and-a-half-year contract represents revenues of more than € 140 million and will begin on January 1, 2013.

The contract covers bus and minibus transportation of employees at the liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant near Darwin in the Northern Territory. Buslink VIVO will deploy a fleet of more than 100 buses to serve the site at maximum capacity, estimated to be annual production of 8.4 million tons of LNG in 2017.

The Group won the contract through a tender based on the quality of its offer, its experience on similar projects and the establishment of the partnership.

Veolia Transdev, present in Australia / New Zealand for 15 years and the third largest operator of urban buses, has grown more than 25% over the past two years as a result of recent contract wins in Sydney, Perth and Auckland.

The Group currently manages several modes including: bus networks in Sydney, Brisbane and Perth, suburban trains in Auckland and ferries in Brisbane and in Sydney, where the Group also manages monorail and tramway services. It also provides transportation of employees for industrial clients under its Vivo Connect brand. Veolia Transdev transports approximately 71 million passengers annually, with a fleet of approximately 1,200 vehicles, managed by more than 3,000 employees.
