Young Kayden Firth knows a thing or two about buses – so when an offer to see what goes on behind the scenes at a West Yorkshire bus firm’s HQ came along, he couldn’t wait to hop on board!

Eleven-year-old Kayden, from Bradford, has a learning disability, but that doesn’t stop him and his proud mum Laura from getting out and about on the buses.

When Transdev UK’s Flyer bus network linking Bradford, Leeds and Harrogate with Leeds Bradford Airport launched last August, Kayden and Laura were among the first customers to step on board its smart new buses.

A chance meeting during that first Flyer journey with the Transdev UK’s CEO Alex Hornby then led to an offer to show Kayden what happens backstage at one of the county’s biggest bus depots, home to Transdev’s subsidiary the Keighley Bus Company.

We were so pleased to be invited to visit The Keighley Bus Company’s depot and see all the buses being looked after. Kayden was really excited and loved every minute of it!

Kayden is just crazy about buses – he loves everything about them. Everybody at the bus depot went out of their way to look after us and make sure we had a brilliant time – we were treated like VIPs.

I can’t thank everyone at The Keighley Bus Company enough for making this happen for Kayden. It’s a day he’ll remember for a very long time.

We were delighted to welcome Kayden and his mum to our Keighley depot for a tour behind the scenes. A lot happens to keep our buses running safely across the region, and I’m sure Kayden enjoyed seeing what goes on here.

Kayden is clearly a big fan of our buses, and it clearly means a lot to him, and us, to enjoy a little bit of VIP treatment.
