It’s a welcome midweek boost for the visitor economy in two great Yorkshire cities – Cityzap, the express bus service between York and Leeds, is launching a money-saving Wednesday day return fare between the two for just one pound.

The bargain low fare is available every Wednesday from this week on the ‘Sky Class’ luxury buses, which run direct between the two cities every 30 minutes during the day on Wednesdays.

And for those who decide to make an evening of it and stay out late, the £1-day return tickets can be used to travel home to York – or Leeds – on Coastliner buses between the two cities.

This amazing £1 Wednesday day return deal on our Cityzap ‘Sky Class’ buses is our way to encourage people to safely rediscover the attractions on our doorstep this summer – such as the great shopping, leisure attractions, museums and galleries in Leeds, or the Minster, Jorvik Viking Centre, Castle Museum and Chocolate Story plus many more in York.

Wednesday is traditionally one of our quieter days of the week, and so we have plenty of space on our luxury double deck buses for everyone to relax and enjoy the journey. Customers can use our Transdev Go mobile app to see how much space there is on board their bus before travelling – and we’ll keep a close eye on how many people are traveling and provide additional capacity where needed.

There are no catches or vouchers to collect to take advantage of this low fare deal – all customers need to do is hop on a Cityzap bus on Wednesdays and ask the driver for a £1 day return ticket. The same low fare applies to adults and young people under 19, so it’ll add up to a big saving for families looking for a day out this summer.

Paul Turner, Transdev’s Commercial Director

Cityzap say the best way to buy a £1 return is using contactless payment cards, which can be used on all its buses. Cash is also accepted, with the exact fare appreciated.

Transdev invested £1.4 million in a fleet of five ‘Sky Class’ buses for the Cityzap service in November 2020, each one packed with luxury features including high-comfort seating with tables, wireless and USB charging, and fast and free Wi-Fi. The voice of BBC Yorkshire weatherman Paul Hudson announces next stops and key information throughout the journey.
