Hard-working NHS teams and brave firefighters at the heart of moving tribute

They’re the hard workers who’ve become the unsung heroes of the Coronavirus pandemic – and their efforts to provide vital services for the people of Greater Manchester are recognized in Transdev’s subsidiary Rosso’s moving tribute to the northwestern UK’s NHS (National Health Services) teams and key workers.

Rosso’s parent company Transdev has teamed up with the region’s favorite daily newspaper, the Manchester Evening News, to create a specially liveried ‘Greater Manchester Heroes’ bus to remind everyone of the key role NHS staff and key workers have in our everyday lives as they maintain vital services across the North West.

The bus carries photos of local key workers, NHS staff and firefighters – each one nominated by proud friends and relatives and the organizations they represent to appear on the sides of the bus.

Among those to appear on the Heroes bus are firefighters who helped to put out a scrapyard fire next to the bus firm’s Rochdale depot – and caring NHS staff from Fairfield General Hospital in Bury.

As key workers ourselves, our drivers and support teams know first-hand how important it is to keep on serving local people by helping others who need to make a journey, including to and from work or to pick up food or access services.

We know there are many unsung heroes doing all kinds of jobs right now who deserve our community’s thanks, and so we decided to recognize them by covering our ‘Greater Manchester Heroes’ bus with their photos, along with the jobs they do – with our amazing NHS workers given pride of place.

In partnership with the Manchester Evening News, we invited nominations to appear on this very special bus, and we’re delighted with the positive response from so many people who clearly share our desire to recognize those who do so much for us all.

Phil Harris, Rosso’s Operations Manager

The launch into service of Rosso’s “Greater Manchester Heroes” bus comes after the bus firm and others run by Transdev raised over £2,400 for NHS Charities Together from the sale of specially created ‘All the Colors of Transdev’ face coverings featuring the colors of its buses across the North. The coverings are still on sale online at: https://shop.transdevbus.co.uk.

I am very proud of all the hard-working members of our Northern Care Alliance NHS family – and we’re delighted to see some with photos on this bus. It’s great to see some of these staff honored in this way, alongside other local heroes.

Steve Taylor, Chief Officer at Fairfield General Hospital

The “Greater Manchester Heroes” bus can now be seen in service on Rosso local routes in and around Bury and Rochdale.

How can we help you to move forward?
