During the night April 14, Transdev Sweden began operating Roslagsbanan, a regional railway system in northern Stockholm. The transition between the previous operator Arriva and Transdev went well. A full 98.9% of all departures were on time the first weekend and no trip had to be cancelled. On Good Friday, April 15th, passengers were greeted with Easter candy.

With more than 50,000 passengers every day, Roslagsbanan is an important part of the public transit system in Stockholm.

We have been preparing for this new mission for more than a year. There’s a lot to get right, from recruiting and training our new employees to learning all about the vehicles and maintenance. The fact that we were able to deliver such good punctuality during the first weekend is very important to us and something we are proud of. We will do our utmost to continue at the same level.

Over the years, Roslagsbanan has undergone extensive refurbishment of tracks, stations and other infrastructure. The number of vehicles will be increased with 22 new modern trains that will be gradually introduced into the service between 2022 and 2024. During the summer of 2022, further improvements will also be made around the line, including level crossings, safety-enhancing measures and improved lighting at selected stations.

During this period, we will, on behalf of SL, the Stockholm publicl transit authority, organize replacement services with buses so that all passengers can continue to travel along the Roslagsbanan route. All of this will ultimately improve the quality of public transport and the passenger experience, which will hopefully encourage more people to travel on Roslagsbanan.
