They help thousands of people across the North of England to enjoy amazing journeys each day – and now their decades of devoted service have been celebrated at their very own glittering awards night.

Long serving members of Transdev UK team at four of its operating subsidiaries – The Keighley Bus Company, The Burnley Bus Company, Rosso, and The Blackburn Bus Company – were recognized at the Celebration of Service event.

Family, friends, and colleagues looked on with pride as the presentations took place at a sparkling celebration dinner held in the Howard Suite at Headingley Stadium in Leeds.

A total of 1,450 years of service given by 48 long-serving Transdev team members was saluted at the specially arranged event, held for the first time since 2019 due to the pandemic.

And for three of those honored at the presentation, it was an especially important landmark as each celebrated 45 years of service.

Michael Boyes from The Blackburn Bus Company, Shabir Ahmed of The Keighley Bus Company, and Alex Pomponi from The Burnley Bus Company all reached the impressive 45-year milestone.

The inspiring stories of amazing customer service provided by each of our Celebration of Service Award winners are humbling for me to hear.This celebration evening is our way of saying thank  you to them for all they have done and continue to do for our customers. As a growing business, we benefit greatly from their professionalism and experience. Their knowledge built up over decades provides a guiding example to the newer members of our teams, while ensuring we have a secure foundation on which to build for the years ahead.

Each Celebration of Service Award winner has reached a key milestone in their career with the bus operator, having achieved 25, 30-, 35-, 40- or 45-years’ service.

The long service celebration comes as Transdev continues its 2022 campaign to recruit new drivers at its 10 operating centers across Yorkshire, Lancashire, and Greater Manchester.
