Transdev accelerates in Canada, with the operation and maintenance contract for the new "Ontario Line" metro line in Toronto

Issy-les-Moulineaux (France), November 18, 2022 – Transdev Canada, member of the Connect 6ix consortium, has been selected by Infrastructure Ontario (IO) and Metrolinx for the operation and maintenance of the new Ontario Line, a stand-alone rapid transit line, for a 30-year term.

The Ontario Line will be a 15.6-kilometre-long, stand-alone metro transit line in Toronto that will connect the Ontario Science Centre to Exhibition/Ontario Place. Immediately, Transdev will play a key advisory role during the design and construction phases of the project to ensure that operations and maintenance requirements are addressed and fulfilled.

This is the second significant project awarded to Transdev in the Greater Toronto Area, after having won in October 2019 the operation and maintenance contract for the Hurontario Line, an 18-kilometer-long light rail line west of Toronto.

Like the Hurontario Line, this contract is being delivered through a public-private partnership model that puts much of the financial risk on the consortium while providing cost and schedule certainty, design and construction efficiencies and opportunities for innovation.

With this new metro contract in Toronto, Transdev is accelerating its growth in heavy modes and is setting the pace in Canada, where the group is in an expansion phase to assert its positions in multimodal transportation. After the tramway, now the automatic metro, Transdev is strengthening its skills and expertise for the benefit of Canadian communities, to offer sustainable mobility for the common good.
