Social Mediation: A Bike for Everyone!

The Transdev Foundation has supported the nonprofit organization Les Ateliers de l'Audace, which works to promote employment integration and make cycling accessible to all

Why this project?

Les Ateliers de l’Audace, founded in 2020, aims to promote social inclusion through cycling. The organization trains people who are far from the job market in bicycle-related trades, from mechanics to sales. At the same time, it promotes access to bicycles for everyone, particularly in priority neighborhoods, to expand mobility opportunities. This model helps create jobs in a booming sector while removing economic barriers to bicycle ownership and use.

How does the organization operate?

Les Ateliers de l’Audace has grown rapidly and now operates a large technical center in Lyon. As of early 2024, the nonprofit employed 35 people, 25 of whom were in work-to-employment programs. Its main activities include repairing and selling refurbished bicycles, as well as running mobile workshops in neighborhoods. The “A Bike for Everyone” project targeted residents of priority neighborhoods, offering bikes at affordable prices and bike repair workshops. This initiative, led by employees in work integration programs, was carried out in partnership with local organizations and supported by the Transdev Foundation
