Transdev, Pioneer and Leader in Autonomous Mobility
In 2005, we signed our first international contract to set up a fleet of autonomous shuttles on dedicated lanes in the Rivium district of Rotterdam. Since then, we have deployed over 50 autonomous mobility projects in 10 countries, testing 10 technologies.

For nearly 20 years, Transdev has been deploying and operating autonomous mobility services.
We want to continue developing inclusive, efficient, and sustainable mobility by gradually integrating shared autonomous vehicles into transportation networks. We want to put autonomous technology at the service of shared transportation, everywhere and for everyone.
2005 The Netherlands 1st AV commercial service on dedicated lane
In Rotterdam, Transdev operates the world first AV commercial service on dedicated lane with ZF 2getthere shuttles.
2014 France 1st AV deployment in the country
Transdev operated the first AV project in La Rochelle, transporting over 15,000 passengers.
2018 USA 1st AV project in mixed traffic in the country
Open road experimentation of an autonomous shuttle service within Babcock Ranch, the first American green city, running entirely on renewable energies.
2019 USA First transport operator to support robotaxi fleet deployment
Since 2019 Transdev has supported the deployment of autonomous fleet operations across multiple US cities with activities including testing and validation through to commercial service operations.
2023 France First Autonomous shuttle project without onboard operator in Europe
3 shuttles deployed in mixed traffic and remotely operated by one supervision operator.
2025 First transport operator to support robotaxis fleet deployment at scale

The benefits of autonomous mobility are fully realized only when vehicles are shared. Shared autonomous services deliver stronger social, environmental and operational value for cities and passengers.
They will enable more flexible, personalized and accessible services to be set up, and services to be extended in time and/or space.
With a massive modal shift effect, these new services will enable cities to improve traffic flow and reclaim the space previously devoted to on‑street parking.
Autonomous vehicles will also enable safer, healthier cities: less air and noise pollution, as shared autonomous vehicles will be electric.
Finally, they will offer more integrated and connected services, for a better customer experience.

Fleet Management

Parkshuttle, Rotterdam, The Netherlands: Operation of a commercial service using AV shuttles on a dedicated lane.
Operated by Connexxion since 2005, this is the world’s first contract for the operation of autonomous shuttles. These light infrastructure based shuttles run on dedicated and closed tracks.
ParkShuttle connects the Kralingsezoom metro station to Rivium Business Park. After an initial pilot period, the service has been extended and operated by 6 shuttles since 2005. An average of 30000 people are transported per month.

Navetty – Les Mureaux, France First autonomous mobility service without an onboard operator in a complex environment in Europe.
Three shuttles, developed by EasyMile and operated by Transdev, traverse loops of up to 6.6 km each day to allow ArianeGroup employees – up to 10 passengers per trip – to move around the 92-hectare site while ensuring service quality and safety. This entails more than 50 daily rotations and 23,000 kilometers traveled safely.
The deployment of autonomous shuttles without onboard operators followed a gradual rollout, ensuring total safety at each stage. A remote supervisor can intervene or communicate with passengers at any time from the Centralized Command Post.

Ride the future – Linköping, Sweden Sweden´s longest running autonomous shuttle project
Since 2019, students and residents around Linköping University have had the ability to travel in autonomous shuttles around campus. The shuttle manufacturers have changed over the years and the project is currently using EasyMile shuttles, which are operated by Transdev. There are currently two vehicles running on this site, with a safety driver onboard.
Ride the future is run by government institutions and private actors in a consortium and Transdev have been a member since the start. The project has evolved over the years, from a smaller fixed line to an on-demand service which covers the entire university area and the neighboring residential area.
