Sports: Social inclusion through Rugby

The Rebonds! association uses rugby as a tool for social integration for young people ages 6 to 17 from priority neighborhoods or isolated rural areas. Faced with barriers limiting access to sports clubs, the organization created the “Rugby Integration Project.” This educational project promotes social integration through an individualized support program called “Suivi Rebonds.”

The sport serves as a vehicle for socialization, openness, and personal growth, rather than being an end in itself. Originally based in Toulouse, the organization has expanded to other regions including the Hérault since 2017 due to the success of its approach.

The project has two main areas of focus:

• Educational track: Rugby programs are organized in schools, recreation centers, and specialized facilities, in collaboration with teachers and educators. 
• Social Integration Track: Interested youth join partner clubs and benefit from the “Suivi Rebonds!” program. This personalized support helps them overcome various challenges (athletic, social, health-related, financial, academic, etc.).
