Câble C1, Île-de-France's first cable car
Transdev operates Câble C1, Île-de-France's first cable car
Île-de-France's 1st cable car
Câble C1 now completes the transport offer of the Greater Paris region. Since December 13, 2025, the Câble C1 directly connects the cities of Villeneuve‑Saint‑Georges, Limeil‑Brévannes and Valenton to Metro Line 8 at Créteil – Pointe du Lac. This attractive and innovative mode of transport provides a concrete solution to the daily mobility challenges faced by residents of these Val‑de‑Marne cities (limited public transport network, urban barriers, etc.). It helps connect the heart of the department to major public facilities (universities, hospitals, etc.) as well as the rest of the Île‑de‑France region, linking densely populated neighborhoods to the Metro Line 8 terminus and to all bus lines connecting with the future stations.
With a 4.5 km route punctuated by five stations—each accessible to people with reduced mobility—the Câble C1 opens up the cities of Limeil‑Brévannes, Valenton and Villeneuve‑Saint‑Georges, and links the two termini in only about twenty minutes during peak hours. Its 105 cabins can carry up to 11,000 passengers per day, thanks to cabin intervals ranging from 22 to 27 seconds.
The design, construction and maintenance of the Câble C1 were carried out by the consortium Doppelmayr France / Spie Batignolles / France Travaux / Egis Rail / Atelier Schall, under the project management of Île‑de‑France Mobilités. The infrastructure is financed 49% by the Île‑de‑France Region, 30% by the Val‑de‑Marne Department and 21% by the French State.
Operations are 100% financed by Île‑de‑France Mobilités and is carried out by Transdev.
Already a leader in the operation of urban cable systems, Transdev is once again partnering with Doppelmayr—just as it did in 2018 in Bogotá (Colombia) to launch the TransMiCable urban gondola system, with the support of Compagnie des Alpes, a subsidiary of Groupe Caisse des Dépôts.
