A fleet tailored to the needs of the routes

NordWestBahn operates on a structured regional network, combining intercity connections and local services. This multi-network organization allows services to be adapted to local conditions, while ensuring operational consistency and continuity of service.

Routes and services

Weser-Ems (WE) network: RE18 (Wilhelmshaven – Oldenburg – Osnabrück), RB58 (Bremen – Vechta – Osnabrück), RB59 (Esens – Sande – Wilhelmshaven).
Regio-S-Bahn Niedersachsen/Bremen (RSBN) network: RS1 (Bremen-Farge – Bremen Hbf – Verden), RS2 (Bremerhaven-Lehe – Bremen Hbf – Twistringen), RS3 (Bremen Hbf – Oldenburg – Wilhelmshaven), RS30 (Bremen Hbf – Oldenburg – Bad Zwischenahn), RS4 (Bremen Hbf – Brake – Nordenham), RS6 (Verden – Rotenburg).
Ostwestfalen-Lippe (OWL) network: RB74 (Bielefeld Hbf – Paderborn Hbf), RB75 (Bielefeld Hbf – Halle (Westf.) – Osnabrück Hbf), RB84 (Paderborn Hbf – Holzminden – Kreiensen), RB85 (Höxter-Ottbergen – Bodenfelde – Göttingen Hbf).

Fleet & technical expertise

The fleet combines diesel and electric traction to meet the specific requirements of the lines and infrastructure: 46 Alstom Coradia Lint (diesel), 35 Alstom Coradia Continental (electric), 26 Bombardier Talent (diesel), and 16 Stadler FLIRT (electric).

Workshops and operational performance

Maintenance is supported by regional industrial facilities, with workshops in Osnabrück and Bremerhaven, including a dedicated cleaning facility on an internal track.

Institutional partnerships

NordWestBahn operates under public service contracts managed by the organizing authorities, which organize tenders, monitor contract performance, and develop services according to passenger needs. The main partner authorities are LNVG, Freie Hansestadt Bremen, NWL, and NVV.
