Bayerische Regiobahn (BRB)

BRB (Bayerische Regiobahn), a subsidiary of Transdev, operates regional rail services in the heart of Bavaria. Our ambition is to offer useful, reliable, and locally-focused mobility, drawing on a structured regional network and an integrated operational organization.

BRB has around 840 employees and a comprehensive organization covering operations, planning, operational management, and support functions (finance, HR, sales, pricing, marketing, and safety management).
The business is based on a fleet of 142 rail vehicles.
In Bavaria, turnover is approximately €218 million.
BRB has transported around 33 million passengers (2023) and has covered approximately 13.7 million train-kilometers.

BRB serves a network of key cities and regions in Bavaria, with a strong focus on Munich and a strong regional presence (particularly in Augsburg, the Alpine region, and tourist hubs).
The company relies on an operational system that includes a control center, planning, and operations management.

BRB's brand structure and network organization are based on five regional rail networks : Chiemgau-Inntal, Berchtesgaden-Ruhpolding, Oberland, Ammersee-Altmühltal, and Ostallgäu-Lechfeld.

BRB carries more than 37 million passengers per year across five networks, each with distinct service levels and operating scopes:

• Chiemgau‑Inntal: operations started in 2013, 17 million passengers/year, 261 km, 35 trainsets (Stadler FLIRT 3), 42 stations, 4.8 million train-km/year.
• Berchtesgaden‑Ruhpolding: operations started in 2021/2022, 2.6 million passengers/year, 47 km, 5 trainsets (Stadler FLIRT 1) + 2 trainsets (Stadler FLIRT 3), 18 stations, 0.7 million train-km/year.
• Oberland: operations started in 1998, 7.4 million passengers/year, 120 km, 31 trainsets (Alstom LINT 54), 28 stations, 2.4 million train-km/year.
• Ammersee‑Altmühltal: operations started in 2008, 5 million passengers/year, 215 km, 41 trainsets (Alstom LINT 41), 43 stations, 3.2 million train-km/year.
• Ostallgäu‑Lechfeld: operations started in 2018, 5.2 million passengers/year, 197 km, + 28 trainsets (Alstom LINT 41/54/81), 27 stations, 2.4 million train-km/year.

BRB operates a fleet of 142 rail vehicles and uses trains adapted to the characteristics of the lines: FLIRT (Stadler) and LINT (Alstom) depending on the network.
