Île-de-France adapts its network for cleaner transportation

The Île-de-France region is renowned for its economic and cultural dynamism and its appeal to tourists. However, it also faces the challenge of congestion on its road network, which serves urban, suburban, and even rural areas. In this context, an efficient and comfortable public transportation network is absolutely strategic. Île-de-France Mobilités has chosen Transdev to support it in this mission.

Cleaner transportation

Pollution peaks are becoming an increasing problem in the Greater Paris area. This is a major worry for everyone, including both the local population and the public authorities. Transdev is taking up the challenge of providing clean mobility by operating zero-emission vehicles which are set to radically change the public transportation sector of tomorrow. As an example, on the R’Bus network operating between the railway stations of Argenteuil and Sartrouville, we are testing a 100% electric bus with an autonomous range of 250 kilometers. It’s popular with passengers as it offers unrivaled comfort and quietness.

Regional services adapted to local requirements

As the main transit operator in the outer Paris area, we operate most of the regional express lines. We have a twofold objective: to develop our electric buses but also to adapt the service to local requirements. Our drivers and maintenance teams are specially trained to derive maximum benefit from these new vehicles. For example, our R’bus offers added comfort thanks to real-time information, and on-board reading service or simple ticket payment methods.

A fully optimized network

We also provide consultancy services to local authorities, by analyzing the region and its traffic and passenger flows to then come up with concrete recommendations in terms of the network to be established.
Facilitating transportation for the population of the Greater Paris region on a daily basis means proposing optimal coverage, such as for example creating good connections with services serving suburban areas.
