Ezymob
A digital solution that makes public transport accessible to people with visual impairments.
An innovation for accessible public transportation
Ezymob is a mobile application designed to make travel simpler and safer for people with visual impairments.
Its goal is clear: to offer maximum autonomy in public transport and complex environments.
To achieve this, Ezymob relies on artificial intelligence and the smartphone’s camera to analyse the environment in real time.
The application detects doors, available seats, ticket machines or validators, and guides the user with tailored instructions (audio and visual).
It also provides route planning, real‑time schedules and stop alerts, with location accuracy reaching up to 30 cm.
This solution does not require any additional equipment in vehicles or infrastructure: everything works through the smartphone, making deployment and adoption easier. It is designed not only for people with disabilities, but also for anyone who may need occasional assistance (older adults, travellers in unfamiliar environments, etc.).
Transdev selected Ezymob to improve accessibility on the Car Jaune network in Réunion Island.
This pilot project aims to make travel smoother and more inclusive by reducing barriers for vulnerable passengers. Key features include guidance in transport hubs, detection of doors and seats, and alerts to get off at the right stop.
Initial feedback has been very positive, and this initiative highlights Transdev’s commitment to inclusive and innovative mobility.
In parallel, a pilot is also underway in the Netherlands, confirming the international interest in this solution.
These projects pave the way for broader deployment across different contexts and territories.
Recognition and awards
Ezymob has received several prestigious awards, particularly in the field of accessibility and at the UITP Congress in Hamburg, highlighting its impact and innovative nature.
These awards reinforce the credibility of the solution and its role in transforming public transport towards greater inclusion.
1. Concept and Accessibility Slogan: “Innovation for inclusion” [00:14]. Target audience: The first mobility app that is fully accessible and usable by EVERYONE [00:16]. Integration: It adapts to your existing transport network without requiring heavy hardware installation [00:21]. 2. The Three Main Features [00:27] The app is built around three technological pillars: A. EZYSTOP – Journey Management Travel information: Real‑time display of schedules and routes [00:35]. Trip creation: Route search from point A to point B [00:38]. Journey summary: Clear overview of all steps [00:45]. Waiting time: Accurate indication before the vehicle arrives [00:50]. Boarding alerts: Smartphone notification (“EzyMob: Get into your vehicle”) to signal that the correct bus or tram has arrived [00:54]. Real‑time guidance: Assistance throughout the entire journey inside the vehicle [01:03]. Exit alerts: Notification to inform the user when it is time to get off (“EzyMob: Get out of your vehicle”) [01:12]. B. EZYSCAN – Camera‑Based Detection [01:25] This feature uses computer vision to help users orient themselves physically: Door detection: Helps users precisely locate the entrance door of the bus or tram [01:28]. Available seat detection: Identifies free seats inside the vehicle to facilitate boarding and positioning [01:38]. C. EZYWAY – Precision Guidance [01:47] Meter‑level localization: Uses the camera and sensors for ultra‑precise positioning, even in dense urban areas [01:50]. Personalized instructions: Guidance provided in time or distance (meters) [01:55]. Step‑by‑step guidance: Voice instructions and haptic feedback (vibrations) [02:00]. Immersive 360° audio: Spatialized audio cues to help the user know exactly where to turn (e.g., “Turn right”) [02:09]. Universal use: Works seamlessly inside stations and multimodal transit hubs [02:17]. Conclusion [02:27] The app’s mission is to create a truly inclusive public transport network, working hand in hand with mobility operators.
