In Umeå and Eskilstuna, Transdev is supporting the energy transition by transforming mobility services. In these two Swedish cities, the development of electric transport is actively contributing to improving residents' quality of life.

Electric mobility, an asset for public health

In Umeå, we have acquired nine fast-charging electric buses. What makes them special? They are particularly well suited to the extreme temperatures of northern Sweden. Of the 66 buses operated by Transdev in Umeå, the number of electric buses is set to grow rapidly: by 2020, 25 new buses will be delivered. By 2019, more than half of the Umeå fleet will be running without emitting pollutants.

In Eskilstuna, 12 of our 65 buses are already electric. They have a significant range of 300 kilometers, recharge overnight, and run on all 23 lines of the city's network. Eskilstuna aims to stop using fossil fuels for transport by 2050. Until then, electric buses are greatly improving the situation, with a 30% reduction in particle emissions planned for 2020. Quiet and non-polluting, our electric vehicles improve the daily quality of life for residents.

Electric mobility is made for the city

Urban routes are particularly well suited to electric mobility. Stops are frequent, especially in city centers. While diesel engines run continuously, electric buses only consume energy when moving. Designed for Sweden's extreme temperatures, our buses combine environmental protection, comfort, and efficient service. Transdev is thus providing concrete solutions to global warming and air pollution in these two cities.

Amsterdam: toward zero emission

To meet the Amsterdam region's demand for a zero-emission fleet, we opted to deploy electric buses. To maintain continuous service, these buses are recharged using a combination of rapid charging at the end of the line and full charging overnight. The added bonus? The electricity used comes from renewable energy sources.
