TakeCharge
The TakeCharge app makes it easy to manage electric bus batteries.
TakeCharge marks a major step forward in the management of electric buses within Transdev networks
This innovative solution allows real-time monitoring of battery status, vehicle location in the depot, and operational availability. By centralizing all this critical information, TakeCharge facilitates decision-making, ensures safe departures, and improves the overall energy performance of electric fleets.
Already successfully deployed in three Dutch networks—Zuidoost-Brabant, Amstelland–Meerlanden, and Haarlem–IJmond—the pilot has demonstrated the tool's ability to simplify the daily lives of teams, reduce stress related to departures, and optimize the work of dispatchers, drivers, and logistics managers.
And now: a new, even more powerful version
Following the pilot, Transdev is working on an enhanced version of TakeCharge, integrating several major improvements based on on‑the‑ground feedback. This upcoming version, currently in development, will offer:
More precise monitoring of charging moments
- Display of the remaining time before the battery reaches a sufficient level
- Improved prediction of charging points throughout the day
- Early alerts several hours before a potential risk of insufficient battery
A smoother and more detailed mapping experience
- Clearer display of buses inside the depot
- Immediate indication of chargers that are operational, out of service, or reporting an anomaly
- Simplified navigation to help drivers locate their vehicle more quickly
More reliable data and a redesigned interface
- Strengthened data quality coming from vehicles and chargers
- A more readable interface for drivers and operations teams
- An improved user experience to support large‑scale adoption
These enhancements will be rolled out starting in May, followed by a gradual deployment across all Dutch networks, and later an international expansion.
A patented technology, designed for the future
Developed by BluMarbl for Transdev, TakeCharge is now a patented solution, giving our group a unique strategic advantage in the field of electromobility. In the long term, this technology could also benefit other networks or operators, further strengthening Transdev’s role as a pioneer in sustainable mobility.
