Social mediation: A bike for everyone!
The Transdev Foundation supported the Ateliers de l'Audace association, which works to promote professional integration and access to bicycles for all
Why this project?
Les Ateliers de l'Audace, created in 2020, aims to promote social integration through cycling. The association trains people far from employment in cycle trades, from mechanics to sales. At the same time, it promotes access to bicycles for all, particularly in disadvantaged neighborhoods, in order to broaden mobility opportunities. This model helps to create jobs in a booming sector, while removing economic barriers to the acquisition and use of bicycles.
How does the association work?
Les Ateliers de l’Audace have experienced rapid growth and now operate a large technical centre in Lyon. At the beginning of 2024, the association employed 35 people, including 25 in integration programmes. Their main activities include repairing and selling refurbished bicycles, as well as running mobile workshops in neighbourhoods. The “A Bike for Everyone” project targeted residents of priority neighbourhoods, offering bicycles at solidarity prices and providing mechanics workshops. This initiative, led by employees in integration, was carried out in partnership with local stakeholders and supported by the Transdev Foundation.
