Sports: integration through rugby
The Transdev Foundation supported the Rebonds association, which uses rugby as a means of social integration for young people.
Why this project?
The Rebonds! association uses rugby as an integration tool for young people aged 6 to 17 from priority neighborhoods or isolated rural areas. Faced with the obstacles limiting access to sports clubs, the association has created the "Projet Insertion Rugby". This project is educational and serves the purpose of integration with individualized follow-up called "Suivi Rebonds".
This sport serves as a vector for socialization, openness and personal fulfillment, rather than being an end in itself. Initially based in Toulouse, the association has expanded to other regions, including Hérault since 2017, due to the success of its approach.
How does the association work?
The project has 2 main focuses:
- Educational axis: rugby cycles are organized in schools, leisure centers and specialized structures, in collaboration with teachers and educators.
- Integration axis: interested young people join partner clubs and benefit from "Suivi Rebonds!". This individualized support helps overcome various difficulties (sporting, social, health, financial, academic, etc.).
