Europe's first autonomous and shared mobility service
The autonomous vehicle: a revolution in mobility!
Transdev Normandie has chosen to place innovation at the heart of its support for local authorities. The aim is to improve mobility for people living in cities and sparsely populated areas alike
The future of mobility is being built in Normandy thanks to the shared autonomous electric vehicle trial projects deployed across our territory.
The Métropole Rouen Normandie has become the first experimental site in Europe for shared and autonomous on-demand mobility on open roads. As part of this project, Transdev is working closely with all the players involved in Rouen Normandie Autonomous Lab (Métropole Rouen Normandie, Région Normandie, Banque des Territoires, Matmut, Groupe Renault and the European Union).

Rouen Normandy Autonomous Lab brings together a range of experiments prefiguring sustainable, intelligent mobility.
Among these, a transportation-on-demand service in the peri-urban area since 2019.
Key figures for this experiment open to the public on the Madrillet technopôle zone in Saint-Etienne du Rouvray:

The project, which began in 2017, provides an on-demand service serving the Madrillet suburban area: 4 automated Zoe vehicles have been operated and supervised remotely by Transdev from a control center.
The RNAL project continues with the experimentation of different types of services in different areas, all integrated into the public transport network, with:
- Autonomous shuttles in peri-urban areas within the Madrillet district, complementing a bus line between a Tramway terminus and a BHNS terminus (T4);
- On-demand autonomous, electric and shared cars to serve Rouen's historic city center, with fixed stopping points.
This pioneering project is unique in its approach: deploying a complete open-road management system ensuring passenger safety, service quality and customer experience.
Piloted by Transdev Normandie, with support from Transdev Systèmes de Transport Autonome, this project is part of a strong ambition to develop integrated, multimodal and carbon-free mobility on a large scale. It is also fully in line with the call for projects TIGA "Rouen Normandie - Intelligent Mobilities for All" led by the Rouen Normandie Metropolis.
