Transdev revitalizes the rail network in Brittany
The Carhaix-Guingamp, Guingamp-Paimpol, and “La Vapeur du Trieux” lines play an essential role in the development of the Brittany region, both for passenger transport and freight activity. Transdev has been operating these three lines and their 90 kilometers of track since 2006.
Transdev, a key partner in regional development in Brittany
Transdev has deep roots in Brittany. Its production center, located in Carhaix in the Finistère department, ensures the proximity and monitoring essential to managing such sensitive infrastructure. From commercial operations to equipment maintenance, train driving and traffic management, CFTA Bretagne, a subsidiary of Transdev, operates these lines efficiently while providing a safe service.
Created at the beginning of the 20th century, the Breton network opened up several towns that had previously only been served by coastal trains. The three lines are a continuation of this project, providing access to the towns of Carhaix, Guingamp, and Paimpol with a high-quality service.

It is thanks to this requirement that the local rail network has been able to continue operating, greatly improving the quality of life for residents of Carhaix, Guingamp, and Paimpol. Tourism is also a key factor, as with 26,000 passengers per year, La Vapeur du Trieux is a popular means of transport for exploring the Côtes d'Armor region. The results speak for themselves: between 2016 and 2017, these lines achieved service quality ratings that exceeded the targets set by the region and the SNCF. These results are also the fruit of significant infrastructure maintenance work. For Transdev, customer satisfaction is priceless.
