Zou! Electric articulated buses
100% electric articulated buses recharged by inverted pantographs in the Alpes-Maritimes region.
Zero-emission technology for the line connecting Nice to Menton
Transdev supports regions in their ecological transition by deploying innovative solutions for clean mobility. Eighteen electric articulated buses operate on the Nice–Menton line, the busiest in the Alpes-Maritimes region, with more than 100 trips per day and 2 million passengers per year.
These vehicles are equipped with an ultra-fast reverse pantograph charging system: an automated arm connects to rails on the roof of the bus to deliver 300 kW of power, allowing up to three round trips without recharging. A full recharge takes less than 15 minutes.
The line has three charging stations: two at the Square Normandie Niemen terminus in Nice and one at the Menton bus station. This system guarantees 100% electric operation with no impact on departure frequency.
The pantographs are manufactured by ABB and maintained by Citelum. This project illustrates Transdev's commitment to reducing emissions and offering sustainable mobility in the Alpes-Maritimes region.
