The Empresa Operadora Metro de Medellín Transdev (EOMMT) operated the Quito Metro

The Empresa Operadora Metro de Medellín Transdev (EOMMT), signed the operation contract with the Quito Metro on November 29th, 2022. From October 26th to November 26th, 2023, we carried out the White March, a dynamic test of the train aimed at verifying the conditions of the system.

The official inauguration took place on December 1st, 2023, in the presence of elected officials from the capital and representatives from Transdev and the Medellín Metro.

From 2023 to May 2025, we reached 86 million trips.

Currently, the EOMMT is made up of 569 operational and administrative staff. 44.88% of the staff is female. The EOMMT has 18 female train operators.

The First Line of the Quito Metro

It runs between Quitumbe in the south and El Labrador in the north, serving the city center. The six-car trains have a total length of 109 meters.

Social and educational projects

There are 15 projects aimed at motivating our users to take care of and take ownership of the Quito Metro, experiencing the Cultura Metro. We have shared this amazing vision with 257,193 people.

There are gender programs and campaigns about “Cero Acoso”:  9 out of 10 women feel safe on the Metro de Quito.

User satisfaction

We have become their first choice for mobility, and this is due to our great attributes such as: safety, accessibility, and speed. We have a 9.4 / 10 service acceptance rating among our users.

The video narrates the journey and impact of the Quito Metro, the first public transport option of its kind in Ecuador. Operated by EOMMT, the result of a strategic partnership between Transdev and Metro de Medellín, the system brings together more than 100 years of combined experience [00:14]. Since the start of operations on December 1, 2023 [00:20], the Quito Metro has carried more than 44 million passengers across its 15 stations and 22‑kilometer network [00:41]. The company stands out for its strong commitment to gender equity, with 41% female operational staff [00:57], and for fostering a diverse and inclusive corporate culture [01:08]. Its mission is clear: to build a new culture of mobility based on collective effort and a shared vision [01:18].

GOOD ENVIRONMENTAL PRACTICES

Our daily activities have a direct impact on the environment. The organizational Carbon Footprint represents the emission of Greenhouse Gases (GHG) generated by our activities within the company.

EOMMT, as part of its commitment to the environment, is now among the 613 companies nationwide that are part of the ECUADOR CARBON ZERO program and is in the process of being included as one of the 85 companies nationwide certified as CARBON FOOTPRINT QUANTIFIERS, reaffirming our commitment to excellence and ENVIRONMENTAL CARE.

Furthermore, as part of our commitment, not only to the project but also to the city, we must highlight that the Quito Metro reduces CO2 emissions, which amounts to 59,310.42 tons per year.

The station that generates the most plastic is SAN FRANCISCO with 145.38 kg so far this year.

The station that generates the most paper and cardboard is EJIDO with 63.23 kg so far this year.

100% of the recyclable waste generated has been managed. We have made 8 deliveries to Hermano Miguel, who has been able to facilitate 66 sessions of child therapy, whether physical, occupational, speech, educational psychology, or psychological therapy so far this year.
