The Safety Village sets up in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region

After its launch in Occitanie, the device arrives in Nouvelle-Aquitaine with the same pedagogical tools:

  • Immersive car to experience a rollover and learn how to evacuate correctly.
  • Interactive sessions on safety, blind spots and lifesaving gestures.
  • Playful support: quiz and web-series to discover the 8 rules of vigilance on board.

Context: Moving Toward Autonomy (From 5th Grade to Middle School) At the beginning of June, 200 fifth‑grade students from schools across the COBAS area (Communauté d’Agglomération du Bassin d’Arcachon Sud) took part in training days at the Baya network depot in La Teste‑de‑Buch [00:07]. The goal is to prepare these future middle‑schoolers for a major change in routine. While in primary school, transportation is usually handled by parents, entering the first year of middle school marks the beginning of independent use of school buses and regular bus lines [00:13]. Skills Taught The training aims to reduce students’ stress and provide them with practical tools: Organization Learning how to read a timetable and identify their bus stop [00:35]. Human interaction Understanding that the driver is a trusted point of contact in case of a question or moment of stress [00:46]. Behavior Adopting responsible behavior inside the vehicle [00:40]. Safety and Risk Prevention A crucial part of the training concerns safety around the bus: Blind spots Understanding the zones where the driver cannot see children — areas described as “potentially very dangerous” [00:56]. Exiting and crossing Raising awareness about the dangers of crossing in front of or behind the bus immediately after getting off, because the vehicle blocks visibility for other road users [01:06].
