The Mobiave network, serving the municipalities of Vila Nova de Famalicão, Santo Tirso and Trofa in northern Portugal, has reached a new milestone with 22 fully electric buses entering service. Backed by Portugal's Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), this investment of over €11 million reflects the commitment of the municipalities and Transdev to more sustainable, modern and accessible mobility.

19% of the Mobiave fleet is now fully electric

With these 22 vehicles joining the network, nearly one fifth of the Mobiave fleet, 19%, is now entirely electric. Representing a total of €11,070,500 and supported by the PRR, the investment marks a concrete step forward in the energy transition of local public transport, driven jointly by the three municipalities and Transdev.

Comfort and accessibility on board

Designed to improve the daily travel experience, the new buses offer free Wi-Fi, USB charging ports, real-time passenger information and 100% LED lighting. Accessibility is also built in: every vehicle features an access ramp, a low floor and a dedicated space for passengers with reduced mobility.

A fast-growing network: passenger numbers up 40%

This fleet renewal supports the momentum of the Mobiave network, where ridership has grown by 40%, a sign of the public's growing appetite for public transport. It reflects Transdev's ambition: delivering low-carbon, attractive mobility solutions that are accessible to everyone, in the regions it serves.
