Transdev Netherlands subsidiary, Hermes, has ordered 32 new electric city buses that will be seen in and around the city of Eindhoven from January 2022.

With the order of the new 12-meter VDL Citeas, Hermes is making a substantial investment in the quality and further greening of the public transportation in the Southeast Brabant concession.

The new generation of Zero Emission vehicles meets every possible market demand: the buses offer a solution in the field of sustainability, technology, range, passenger comfort and capacity, ergonomics, flexibility, safety and costs. The new Zero Emission buses have been specially equipped with the so-called Brainport package for Transdev. The package includes safety systems, such as Forward Collision Warning and a Blind Spot Detection system, but also the interior design and the special onboard lighting which makes the vehicles unique.

This investment was made possible by good cooperation with the province and shows that the Province of Brabant and Transdev have confidence in the future after the COVID-19 crisis.

Transdev’s spearhead goal is to improve air quality, reduce noise and increase driving comfort for passengers and drivers by deploying zero emission buses. Transdev now has over 300 electric vehicles on the roads in the Netherlands, making it the largest electric fleet in Europe.
