This year, Australia Day was rather different than what our Australian colleagues have known so far: limited celebrations and no Ferrython (Sydney Harbor’s popular boat show extravaganza). But despite this  there was some exciting news from this annual celebration.

The New South Wales Department of Premier and Cabinet wanted to acknowledge and pay tribute to the hard work all of Sydney essential workers put in to support our communities and keep Sydney moving during the COVID-19 pandemic. In an amazing display, images of several essential workers were projected onto the iconic Sydney Opera House.

Photos of public transportation employees were of course included amongst the photos of essential workers that were shown, and one of the workers honored were our very own Carlie Thornton, Deckhand at Transdev Sydney Ferries.

At 9.00pm on January 26th the Sydney Opera House turned into a beautiful and emotional tribute to all those essential workers who have kept Australia going throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, and who still are doing an amazing job thanks to their continuous dedication to the communities and the country they serve.

From the whole Transdev Group we would like to thank each one of you for your resilience and commitment over the past year. Thank you!

How can we help you to move forward?
